[Seoul = Newsis] Reporter Kim Kyung-taek = 3D printing-based smart manufacturing specialist Lincsolution announced on the 28th that it unveiled its “AX (AI Transformation)-based Additive Manufacturing (AM) Dark Factory” model at the “LIG D&A Tech Summit” held at Lotte Tower in Seoul on the 27th.
According to the company, the summit served as a venue for key defense sector officials and innovative startups to discuss technological cooperation strategies to respond to future battlefield environments. Through its presentation, Lincsolution proposed an additive manufacturing-based unmanned production model capable of supplementing the limitations of the existing defense manufacturing supply chain and enabling rapid component production and stable response even in wartime situations.
The AM Dark Factory unveiled by Lincsolution is a next-generation manufacturing model that combines additive manufacturing with artificial intelligence (AI) and robot automation technology. In this system, AI analyzes design data to derive the optimal process path, and robot automation facilities produce components 24 hours a day with minimal human intervention.
In particular, the AM Dark Factory is evaluated as a suitable solution for defense manufacturing environments where small-batch, high-mix production and emergency response production are crucial. Lincsolution presented analysis results showing that applying this model can reduce lead time by up to 50% and decrease the number of parts and processes by over 60% compared to conventional manufacturing methods.
It also possesses strong competitiveness in terms of security. The AM Dark Factory operates the entire process within an in-house system and applies an unmanned production system to minimize the possibility of information leakage caused by human factors. Furthermore, the company explained that its strength lies in simultaneously enhancing quality stability and mass-production responsiveness by upgrading the AI control system based on accumulated process data.
Lincsolution plans to utilize the large-scale additive manufacturing smart factory currently under construction in Daejeon as a core base for realizing the AM Dark Factory. This production base is scheduled to be established as a next-generation digital manufacturing hub for producing cutting-edge weapon system components, including guided missiles, radars, avionics, and unmanned systems.
